Tomorrow, I’ll be speaking to Newcastle Skeptics in the Pub about cyber attacks. In particular, I’ll be dissecting Stuxnet, the malware which targeted an Iranian Uranium enrichment facility, disabling hardware with some degree of success. I’ll also be talking about the wider scope:
- which countries are organising to accomodate cyber-operations into military doctrine
- what the international and national legal frameworks say about cyber attacks
- the media and public perspective
- some comments on how countries are moving to protect critical infrastructure against threats.
This is a topic that I became interested in once news about Stuxnet started percolating into the wider public psyche. My research on this topic has spanned public policy reports, academia, journalism, security reports and conference proceedings, over the course of the year.
You can join the event on Facebook, I look forward to seeing you there!
